day 3

ok so today we actually started our work, we went to a meeting yesterday and we are going to work with 4 different communities that have workshops in which they do different kinds of objects using different techniques as well as materials.
we are working with paper maché, textiles, clay, iron and wood.

for the next two weeks we will be working with the people that make figures out of paper mache and clay, actually in spanish is called barro negro but i dont have the exact translation for it.

we went today to the workshop in one small community that is 15 min away from here and met the group of people that we are working with. they work doing pottery and the lady that does it, doña irene, explained us how everything is done.
all the clay is prepared by hand from making the “dirt” very tiny up to making the object with their hands without any moulds or anything. we got the chance to watch her as she was making some objects and it is just lovely… i am really looking forward to working with them for the next 2 weeks.

60 days of oaxaca…

so, im doing my social service at oaxaca, a lovely state at the south of mexico. im staying right now in the city, in what it would be downtown. today i have my first metting to actually know what are we going to do, so we´ll see how that goes.

what i want to do is a mini project called 56 days of oaxaca, with all the things i do here, the people i meet and work with, everything. ill try to post a picture daily and write about it not daily but at least two times a week, to see how it all goes.

im really excited to work here i all ready love the city

ok, now i have done 376 credits out of 392, that means that i have only 16 credits left to finish my degree… oh my, four years that went by so so so fast….. ill post some pics from graduation and end of everything soon….

i cant believe im done

and by the way ill try to get this thing (blog) up and running once again…

the horrors @ salón 21/23.mayo.09

aunque ya los habia visto antes este año (en el festival del que estoy enamorada ) tenía muchas ganas de verlos de nuevo y solos, entonces tenía la oportunidad perfecta.

llegue por ahí de las 9.30 pm al salon 21 en donde me encontre con el abuelo juan y el tío vicente. había un poco de cola para entrar pero en cuestión de minutos estabamos dentro y con mas gente de la que esperaba encontrar con muchos “estilos” peculiares.

uno de los roadies se subió al escenario con una máscara de luchador a checar los últimos detalles del sonido que estuvo malon durante el concierto.

salió la banda al escenario y la intensidad empezó, se salía gente empapada en sudor desde adelante y la euforia masiva se intensifico cada ves mas.
la primera mitad del concierto como lo han estado haciendo en toda su gira, consistio en tocar su ultimo disco primary colours, el cual me gusta mucho y es un gran disco.

los problemas de sonido hicieron que las canciones fueran dificiles de reconocer y la banda se salió pra que pudieran “arreglar” los problemas. mejoró un poco y se veía que los integrantes estaban disfrutando la respuesta del público.

llego el encore y juan y yo no sabíamos con que regresarían, acabarian de tocar el disco o nos darían el gusto de tocar algunas canciones de strange house…
salieron de nuevo al escenario y comenzaron con un gran gran cover a no love lost de joy division para seguido de esto complacernos tocando 3 canciones de su primer disco.

personalmente me gustó mas el encore pero en general fue un gran concierto y realmente son una gran banda que creo tienen un buen futuro adelante ya que son muy jóvenes.
definitivamente de las mejores propuestas que estan sonando ahora.
